ABSTRACT
A system with a lithium drifted germanium, or a high purity intrinsic germanium detector may be used for measurement of manmade photon emitters if the efficiency of the detector is adequate to meet the detection limits required at 40 CFR 141.25(c). These detectors should be shielded with a minimum of 10 cm of iron or equivalent. The multichannel analyzer, in addition to appropriate electronics should contain a memory of not less than 4096 channels and at least one readout device.
