ABSTRACT
Noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs) gained international attention when Fire and colleagues [1] discovered the ability of double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) to silence gene expression in Caenorhabditis elegans. The discovery of small interfering RNAs (siRNA) earned Andrew Z. Fire and Craig C. Mello the Nobel prize in Medicine and Physiology in 2006. ncRNAs interact inter se with messenger RNAs (mRNAs), DNA, and proteins to form networks that can regulate gene activity and have innite potential [2].
