ABSTRACT
One complex number contains two independent parameters. One two-by-two complex matrix with its four elements contains eight independent parameters. The unit determinant condition reduces the number of independent parameters to six. These matrices form a group that is called the two-dimensional special linear group and is denoted as SL(2, c).
