GENERAL CONCLUSIONS book
In this chapter two major river renaturation projects are discussed. Both cases are partially responses to the increasing stress that is posed by climate change on the health of ecosystems and the safety of people (like the increased threat of fl ooding). As a result of the projects studied in this text, ecosystems are directly benefi ted and the needs of people to remain healthy and balanced are met with the provision of fl ourishing and safe living environments. Thus the interest in “how can these projects be made to work?” ultimately derives from these considerations. It is hypothesized that the characteristics of the regime are important parts of the answer and elaborated upon that in this analysis.
