ABSTRACT
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a syndrome characterized by levels of hyperactivity, inattention, and impulsivity that are:
1. developmentally abnormal 2. persistent in time 3. not better explained by psychosocial circumstances or other medical
or mental illnesses, and 4. causing substantial functional impairment in more than one setting,
most typically home and school.
