Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a common psychiatric condition during childhood and adolescence which continues to be underestimated and undertreated; in fact, the original assumption was that OCD was quite rare in childhood and that the occurrence of obsessive or compulsive phenomena should be considered a transient developmental pattern.
