ABSTRACT

The problem of chitosan (CHT) hydrolysis, including enzymatic one, has been paid sufficiently much attention to in the recent years [1-6]. Many authors [4-6] choose the viscosimetric method as that of evaluating the change in the polymer molecular mass during hydrolysis. The method of viscosimetric evaluation of the molecular mass decrease makes it possible to establish the fact of the CHT hydrolysis process by the decrease in the intrinsic viscosity of the solutions. Meanwhile, the change in the polymer solution viscosity can reflect not only the change in the polymer molecular weight but also the possible rearrangement of the solution structural condition. In this connection, the aim of this investigation is the evaluation of correctness of using viscosimetric method in the studies on CHT enzymatic destruction in solution in the presence of some enzymes non-specific for CHT.
