ABSTRACT
In addition, because laser photocoagulation is a focal treatment, there is no expected benefi cial effect beyond the area of laser application. With the advent of safe and effective antiangiogenic therapies, it would appear that laser photocoagulation will have an extremely limited role in the management of CNV secondary to AMD. Thus, the following narrative is presented primarily for a historical perspective on how treatment for CNV secondary to AMD developed over the last quarter century.
