ABSTRACT
Today, after more than 60 years of continued discovery and development of silicon, approximately 90% of cumulative installed photovoltaic (PV) modules are based on crystalline silicon technology. PV devices based on silicon are the most commonly used solar cells currently being produced and, thanks to silicon technology, the worldwide market for solar electric energy has grown by 40% a year over the last decade.
