- Isolation and Characterization of Chitin and Chitosan as Potential Biomaterials

This article presents the production processes of chitin and chitosan from marine biowaste. Moreover, various forms of chitin and chitosan are presented based on solubility properties of chitin and chitosan. In addition, methods for determination of DD and molecular weight of chitin and chitosan are presented to propose a standard method to determine DD and molecular weight of chitin and chitosan that needs to develop a systematic nomenclature system to present each type of chitin and chitosan.
