ABSTRACT
To enhance the survival of extended skin flaps, Owens (1) incorporated underlying muscle and the musculocutaneous vessels. This report led to several applications of musculocutaneous flaps including one of the most useful flaps in head and neck reconstruction: the pectoralis musculocutaneous flap (2).
