ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: The TOURRENIA project (https://www.tourenia.eu) is an acronym for Tourisme Réseaux Niches Accessibles-Turismo Reti Nicchie Accessibili, funded by the “Coastal Italian and French Transfrontier Maritime Cooperation Program”. It involves four municipalities: Forte dei Marmi, Palau, Portovenere, and Bastia.The main objective is to identify opportunities to improve access and facilities for the disabled tourist. Whilst at the same time, creating a network of co-operation between the four Local Governments enabling them to share ideas and best practice, with disabled organizations, feed-back from disabled visitors, tourist agencies, tour operators, and town planners. Particular attention has been given to the accessibility of places and resources, especially for people with physical limitations or disabilities and the elderly. This proposal describes how the road data have been modeled in order to obtain a cost function useful in calculating the effort that a disabled would spend to moving along a certain path.
