ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: The article evaluates housing stock in Latvia, its volume and quality as well as its future development. The aim of the study is to identify the criteria for choosing a new dwelling. Data on quantitative factors relating to housing stock and the construction of new dwellings, on the breakdown of dwelling houses according to the type of buildings, as well as data on housing quality was used. Experts were interviewed and a survey of potential applicants for dwellings was made to identify the criteria for choosing a dwelling. Mathematical statistics methods, analysis and synthesis, as well as abstract logical methods were use to process the data. The research allows the authors to conclude that the choice of a new dwelling is affected by maintenance and service costs, the convenience of the dwelling and its surroundings, as well as the safety of the living environment.
