ABSTRACT

The thermo-mechanical response of the tire is investigated in two separate program modules. In the mechanical module, a 3D FE-discretized tire model is considered in a steady state motion at fixed temperature. In the thermal module, the temperature variation is computed in a transient simulation of a representative 2D FE model of the tire’s cross-section at fixed reference configuration. Both program modules are linked by a main program providing the iterative sequential update of the mechanical and thermal state.
