ABSTRACT
This chapter concentrates on noninfectious causes of fever. Fever caused by drugs, malignancies, collagen vascular diseases, sarcoidosis, gout, inflammatory bowel disease, thromboembolic, and thyroid disease is reviewed. A framework for systematically evaluating the febrile patient without an obvious source is presented. An overview of fever of unknown origin (FUO) is summarized.
