Common Oral Infections

This chapter reviews the more common infections involving the teeth, gums, periodontium, and tongue (see Figure 1). The differential diagnosis and management of patients with oral ulcerations, masses, and plaques are summarized (see Figure 2). Lifethreatening oral infections and those involving the salivary glands are also reviewed.
