ABSTRACT

This chapter reviews the clinical presentations, diagnoses, and treatment of the more common tick-borne infections: Lyme disease, relapsing fever, Ehrlichiosis, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, and Babesiosis. Other less common tick-borne infections such as tularemia, Colorado tick fever, and Powassan viral encephalitis are summarized. Tick-borne paralysis is reviewed. Although Coxiella burnetii (causative agent of Q fever) can infect many tick species, it is generally not transmitted by them and is not reviewed in this chapter.
