ABSTRACT

O btaining a reliable and accurate history in casesof child abuse can be a daunting task. Often the person bringing the child to the emergency department is not the abuser and may not be able to provide details of the event1. The information provided by the caregiver may be inaccurate and inconsistent as there may be fear of self-incrimination. The abused child may be too young or too frightened to provide further information2.
