ABSTRACT
The major encapsulated lymphoid tissues (lymph nodes, spleen and thymus) may be involved in many primary immune-mediated diseases. In addition, these tissues are often the site of inflammatory, traumatic, developmental or neoplastic diseases that do not necessarily have an immunological pathogenesis. These diseases are summarized in this chapter.
