ABSTRACT

Soper et al. in 2007 compared patients with gracilis fl aps versus VRAM fl aps after total pelvic exenteration and found similar rates of vaginal stenosis and no signifi cant difference in donor site complications. Patients with gracilis fl ap experienced 31% of any degree of fl ap loss (skin or muscle loss of 50% requiring operative debridement occurred in only 14% of patients) compared with 5% of VRAM patients. They reported similar rates of vaginal coitus in both patient groups (4).
