ABSTRACT

The assembly of wooden lightweight-framed construction is formed by solid timber studs and cavities which may be filled with insulation or may include voids. The cladding is most often made of gypsum or particle board. In fire protection the cladding contributes very well to the fire resistance of the structural components and elements. Eurocode 5 (EN 1995-1-2) solves this problem in a simplified way only for certain claddings materials and for fire resistance of up to 60 minutes. It can be designed as a solution of fire resistance of the components of a light wall (floor) frame and their dependence on various materials to affect the contribution of boards to increasing the fire resistance of the timber structural elements and components.
