ABSTRACT
Since the innovation of new CAD tools in the early 1990´s, freeform surfaces are playing an ever-increasing role in architectural design. Progressively, a new stylistic vocabulary has been developed. Though this has led architectural discourse to an aesthetic focus, structurally optimized applications in the field of surface structures offer possibilities to enable integrative aspects.
