ABSTRACT

I. INTRODUCTION The liver ranks high on the list of targets affected by adverse reactions to therapeutic or environmental agents (1-3). Therefore, detection of hepatic abnormalities receives considerable attention during testing and following release of new agents. Awareness of druginduced reactions affecting the liver has become increasingly a matter of concern and searches have intensified for more effective ways to identify drugs that are likely to cause liver injury as well as subsets of patients who are at increased risk.
