9.1 INTRODUCTION

There is practically no human activity that does not produce waste products and in addition, there is a direct relationship between the standard of living in a society or country and the amount of waste products produced. These days, the criteria of determining the status of a country is well defined as developed, developing and under developed based on the production of waste products by that particular country. Until recently, the discharging waste in the environment was one of the major ways of eliminating them, until the auto purifying capacity of the environment becomes insufficient. The main problem stems from the waste coming from industry and agriculture, despite the fact that the population also plays an important role in environmental contamination, through anthropological activities.
