ABSTRACT
I lived in El Salvador the rst 4 years of my life. en my parents sent for me in 1980 to come to the United States. It was a drastic change for me. I only spoke Spanish, and the rst 3 years of my schooling were very challenging for me, due to the language barrier and my parents only spoke to me in Spanish at home, but I nally caught on in second grade.
