ABSTRACT

Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address is such a powerful message to all whose eyes fall upon reading it. e eld on which the famous Civil War battle of Gettysburg was fought is extremely symbolic of our nation’s advancements toward obtaining freedom and equality for every individual. Approximately 50,000 soldiers lost their lives at the Battle of Gettysburg July   1-3,   1863. In Lincoln’s address to the nation, he wanted to honor those who died defending this right by leaving a lasting memory and legacy behind for future generations to embark on, preserving for years following the battle of Gettysburg. Although America has come quite a long way since this memorable event and people desire to live in this country because of such advancements, we still struggle with violence among di erent racial groups, and I will continue to do my part in upholding the mission of preserving equal rights and freedom to all with whom I interact within my daily life.
