ABSTRACT

In general, the goal of radiation therapy is to eradicate the tumor while sparing adjacent normal tissues. Patients tolerate radiation treatment differently, and the incidence and severity of complications associated with that treatment vary as well. For this reason, a process by which patient toxicity information is prospectively evaluated and recorded through weekly assessments, and late toxicity through subsequent follow-up visits, has been developed. A standardized way of collecting this information across disease sites allows physicians to evaluate treatmentrelated toxicity for all patients receiving radiation therapy.
