ABSTRACT

One of the main issues of any biological detection method is how do you collect the microbes. In the case of fungi, you can generally see the fruiting body and so you collect it into a pouch and move on; in the case of fungal hyphae, fungal spores, and the fungi imperfecti, also known as the Deuteromycota, the problem of collection becomes complex. Added to this, the bacteria and then the viruses and the sampling and collection methods suddenly become important to any method designed to detect and identify them.
