ABSTRACT

One key mechanism for plants to adapt to challenging environmental conditions is the modulation of gene expression. Changes in gene expression rely on a wide variety of molecular mechanisms affecting the mRNA status such as transcription, processing, transport, translation, storage and decay. Among all these regulatory events, translation emerges as a key limiting step, since it is the protein factory, reversible, and exquisitely regulated (Dever 2012; Sonenberg and Hinnebusch 2009).
