Adhesive bonding is widely used to fasten many materials and fabricate structures. It oers several advantages over mechanical fastening, but as with any process, there are disadvantages as well, as shown in Table 18.1 (Kinloch 1987, Sharpe 1990, Dixon 2005, Pocius 1997).
