ABSTRACT
In business, banks and retail organizations face similar problems. There are specialty problems fringing on engineering, such as how to deal with information available in the telephony industry. Many early business applications related to identifying association rules based on market basket data of various types. Primary business applications, however, tend to involve classification (Will loan applicants repay their loans? Will recipients of sales information provided at cost X respond by purchasing goods worth profit Y? Is insurance claim alpha likely to be fraudulent and thus merit investigation at cost Z).
