ABSTRACT
Up to fairly recently, the answer to the question “what do engineers do?’’ was seen as being fairly self-evident: “engineering, that is technical design and problem solving’’. However as more empirical studies have begun to appear, it would seem that a more nuanced answer is called for and indeed more empirical research needed. Accordingly, we decided to collect data in our national context to complement the research being carried out in other countries.
