ABSTRACT

The cruise market development in Asian region has great potential. In past 8 years, the cruise tourist in Asian region has been tripled. In 2010, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia have benefited from ASEAN (the Association of Southeast Asian Nations) cruise economy remarkably. Asia and Pacific region has become an important engine to the increase of global cruise market in the future. During January to April 2010, Asian tourism market has increased by 12% simultaneously, which is 5% higher than global average. It’s estimated that until 2020, the population of cruise tourist globally will reach 40 million. Hence, Asian cruise market will be further enlarged (Cruise Lines International Association, 2009∼2010 China Cruise Industry Development Report).
