ABSTRACT

Maintenance grouping has during the last decades achieved a strong theoretical foundation. However, the application of such models is rather limited in the oil and gas industry. Nevertheless it is believed that there is a potential to develop maintenance grouping strategies for this industry. When considering the planning regime in this industry, the plans have stochastic nature due to uncertainty elements such as bad weather. In addition, these plans must be coordinated across geographical, organizational, and professional boundaries. In all, this increase both uncertainty and complexity and is coordinated in an Integrated Plan (IPL). The paper therefore develops a maintenance optimisation strategy for IPL with demonstration of a dashboard. Based on consideration of existing maintenance planning strategies, a method denoted as semi-static indirect grouping is proposed. Since drilling operations may impede maintenance activities, the proposed maintenance strategy is demonstrated for this operation.
