ABSTRACT

A standard practice to estimate equipment reliability indicators consists in using generic data sources, such as national or fleet data banks. Nevertheless, differences in conception, operation, environment and maintenance do not ensure a similarity of equipment behaviours: that is why the applicability of generic reliability indicators may be questionable when one is interested in assessing the reliability of a plant-specific system. The aim of the paper is to present a pragmatic sequential methodology developed to estimate specific reliability indicators from generic data. The methodology is applied on a real industrial case study carried out on diesel generators from EDF hydroelectricity power plants.
