ABSTRACT

Urban transport systems built in the 1980s are more and more subject to revamping operations in order to be modernized and increase their transport capacity. In addition to the usual Reliability, Availability and Maintainability (RAM) management process implemented for railway system projects, these complex operations add a strong operating and maintenance side to these issues. This article addresses a methodology carried out by Egis Rail acting as Lille’s Line 1 UTO metro revamping project General Consultant. In such revamping processes, taking into account operating and maintenance constraints for reliability, availability and maintainability targets specification is crucial as an operator is already on duty, bringing its operating, maintenance and organization requirements to the project.
