ABSTRACT

A flood protection measure is a basic element of civil protection in the area that is classified as a flood plain area. A flood-endangered area has specific characteristics to which the choice of flood protection measures should be adapted. So that the choice of measures may be effective, the assessment and the evaluation of relevant criteria in the framework of the selected area are necessary. Each area has its own character and so the criteria that are important to choosing the measures will differ in different areas. The contribution presents both the assessment of criteria concerning the suitability of the measures for the endangered area from the point of view of civil protection and the following use of this assessment as part of multi-criteria analysis application.
