ABSTRACT
Although the behavior and strength of stiffened plates have been extensively studied over the last forty years, there are still some inconsistencies and gaps between the results of some studies and the results obtained through the design rules established in the European and American standards (EN-1993-1-5 2006, AASHTO-LRFD-BDS 2007, which are usually adopted by the bridge designers to solve the problem of predicting the ultimate strength of stiffened plates.
