ABSTRACT

Buckling of compressed sections of the drillstring and coiled tubing is typical for horizontal and inclined intervals of wells at extended reach drilling. The buckling may lead to undesirable effects: 1) Crooking of the well from the direction of drilling, 2) Decreased axial load transferred to the bit up to the drillstring lockup, 3) Failure of the drill pipes under action of bending moment at contact points of connectors with the wellbore wall.
