ABSTRACT
In recent years, many theoretical and numerical models have been developed in order to fully understand the behavior of smart structures in the geometrically linear range of deformation. Considerably less work can be found based in the area of geometrically nonlinear shell theories, large deflection problems of smart composite structures with integrated piezoelectric layers.
