ABSTRACT

It was continuously argued that damage could be related to the PPV of the ground vibration. A 10-year research programme of the United States Bureau of Mines (USBM) led to the widely adopted criterion for the safe-limit vibration against structural and threshold damage of buildings resulting from ground vibrations generated by blasting. In Figures 1 and 2 different safe limit criteria for vibration resulting from subsurface blasting are shown.
