ABSTRACT

In case of standard reinforced concrete systems with rigid joints the effective reinforcement of the prefabricated system in the part with joints is of utmost importance for energy dissipation through plastic deformation of joints of prefabricated units. The type, quality and amount of reinforcement are vital for reaching the necessary joint ductility. The full exploitation of joint ductility – in the range of non-linearly elastic and plastic deformations – in standard prefabricated systems is connected with a gradual development of cracks and joint rupture preceding the failure – collapse of joints (Fig. 1).
