ABSTRACT

In a single-lap pull-push test of a plate-to-concrete bonded joint, the adhesive layer is mainly subjected to shear deformations, so mode II interfacial fracture is the expected failure mode.A simple mechanical model for this joint can be thus established by making the following assumptions for simplicity of problems:

• The two adherents (the plate and the concrete prism) are homogeneous and linear elastic;

• The adhesive is only subject to shear forces which are constant across the thickness of the adhesive layer;

• Bending effects are neglected; • The normal stresses in both adherents are uniformly

distributed over the cross-section; and • The thickness and width of the adherents are con-

stant throughout the bond line.
