3 VERIFICATION OF RESULTS

The recommended approach for determining the crack width is verified against experimental results to judge how the recommended approach can be applied for design practice. The test results obtained by (Ghattas 1994), (Korytnyuk 1974), (Maureen 1974) and (Shavykin 2009) we considered with total number

of test samples 105. The crack width for all samples has been calculated using the recommended approach and by equation (15) and by EC equation. The relative crack width (predicted/experimental) calculated by the proposed equation and by EC-2 equations is shown in Figure 3. The results obtained by the proposed approach give average value of the relative crack width of 1.03, while EC-2 results give 1.13.This proofs that, unlike basic equation for all codes, the proposed method gives results with good agreement with the test results.
