ABSTRACT

The method of high-frequency ultrasonic testing of homogeneous materials such as steel or ceramics is nationally and internationally acknowledged and specified in various standards.

Meanwhile, ultrasonic testing has become standard in quality control of conventional concrete. However, testing frequencies (kHz-range) are by far lower than for example for steel or ceramics (MHz-range). Due to the small aggregate used for UHPC (1/5 to 1/20 of the grain diameter of normal concrete), it can be scanned with high frequencies in the MHz-range, this increases the resolution of the received signals which then causes a high reliability of the tests.
