ABSTRACT

Roughly 2′′ × 1′′ × 16′′ length tension specimens are cut out at angles from the slabs and are tested with a 60 kip servo-hydraulic testing machine with wedge grips. Aluminum plates are glued to the ends of the specimens to help prevent cracking in the tension grip zone. In addition a slab with randomly oriented fibers was cast using a scoop and random pattern movements. Lastly a separate set of specimens were cast using a scoop and a mold with dimensions of 2′′ × 1′′ × 16′′. This was done to compare methods of casting and aligning fibers. A total of 5 specimens for each series were cast and tested.
