An analytical method for determining the loading on connections in heating and cooling during a fire

An exemplar of the horizontal load at the supports and the mid span deflections is shown in Figure 1 for both the standard and the parametric fire; results are plotted against 1000’s of seconds. Figure 1 a) shows the response of a floor comprising an IPE220 beam under a load of 30 N/mm length exposed to the standard fire and Figure 2 b) shows the response of a floor comprising an IPE 300 section under a load of 60 N/mm exposed to the parametric fire.
