Reliability evaluation and design of steel frames with BRBs under severe earthquakes

Equivalent linear method is proposed to predict the peak elasto-plastic displacement response of structures in earthquakes. The methodology is basically dependent on assuming that energy absorbed by the elasto-plastic structure equals to that dissipated by the damping of a corresponding elastic structure. Meanwhile, the fundamental period is modified to reflect stiffness decrease of the structure.
