Reliability-based robust optimization using variance based methods

Robust designs are the designs at which the variation in the objective function or optimized solution is minimal against the uncertainties in the inputs of the system. For this purpose, a sensitivity analysis is suggested to check the assumptions regarding the uncertainties of the system’s inputs, e.g. mean value, standard deviation and distribution type.
