ABSTRACT

For the relevance of CO2E-emissions for different concrete strength classes and their influence on the overall CO2E-emissions for tunnel projects one example project is used.

The example project is a highway section in a region with varying topography closed to the Alps. The tunnel length is 4.3 km each for north and south tube. The standard cross section of the tunnel is defined as RQ 36t according to the German guideline “Richtlinie für die Anlage von Autobahnen” (RAA) (FGSV 2008). This cross section has three lanes of 3.50 m width per direction and no emergency lane which leads to other traffic safety measures. The tunnel is built with shotcrete method (NATM).
